The grants will allocate $450,000 to the restoration of the Playland Carousel, which was completed in 1928 and damaged in a fire in the summer of 2017.
Approximately $245,428 will be used to update the Bronx River Watershed Management Plan, which will comprise a “collaborative, multi-jurisdictional planning process” that includes a climate resilience strategy.
The Westchester-Putnam Workforce Development Board will also receive $100,000 for “Westchester’s Promise,” a program that helps provide training to those seeking employment as Phlebotomy Technicians, Medical Administrative Assistants, and Electrocardiography Technicians.
“This is a good day for Westchester residents as the County has received money from New York State to work on three very important projects,” said Westchester County Executive George Latimer. “I want to thank Governor Andrew Cuomo and the Mid-Hudson Regional Economic Development Council for being so generous with Westchester County and recognizing the importance of our historic buildings, environment and workforce.”
